Inspirational Photographers: Jessica Jenney

Splendor Bridge by Jessica Jenney

We all need an inspirational booster shot from time to time to get our creative juices flowing, and nothing does that better for me than seeing the work of talented photographers.  Not being one to horde all the good stuff to myself, I’ve decided to start a series highlighting the work of inspiring photographers I come across.  My hope is that their work will be as much of a visual stimulus to you as it is to me.

The first in this series is award-winning Jessica Jenney, a photographer with an artist’s eye.  I find her work not only lovely, but emotive as well.  Her photographs evoke feelings of an idyllic, enchanted world found only in storybooks.  She’s a visual alchemist, turning photos, textures, and filters into pure gold.

This is how she describes her own work:

“I photograph the natural world, florals and still lifes with an emphasis on intimate landscapes. My photos are just the first stage of the creative process. I often apply various filters, textures and treatments in the digital darkroom to transform reality into my personal vision.

“I draw inspiration from the area where I live. I discover the magic in small places around me; an old bridge, a local pond, familiar places seen with a fresh eye. I always have my camera with me, never missing an opportunity to find something that captures my attention.”

Take some time and browse through more of Jessica Jenney’s exceptionally imaginative work here.
