Judge Joe Brown Slams Wedding Photographer
This is an interesting video of Judge Joe Brown — who knows a few things about photography — making a ruling between a wedding photographer (defendant) and the bride (plaintiff). I think it raises some questions, such as:
- What constitutes a professional wedding photographer?
- Is the defendant a professional wedding photographer simply because she charges for her services?
- What type of camera should a professional wedding photographer use?
- How could the defendant have handled the situation differently?
- Do you really want to end up before a judge, who has some understanding of photography?

* Do you really want to end up before a judge who, has some photographer understanding, but is not himself a professional?

I don't like the direction those questions suggest (regulating the industry and licensing photographers). The actual issue, utterly buried in this total sham of a hearing, was whether the work delivered matched the work the photog showed the bride when the contract to shoot the wedding was made.

Yes, the judge should have asked the simple question: does the work shown the bride during the contract agreement substantially match the results she received. Unfortunately, Judge Joe Brown seemed more interested in displaying his knowledge of photography to the viewers.
It's unfortunate that a ruling was made, in large part, based on chest-thumping emotions rather than logic.

I do hope this is from a sitcom?
No real judge would behave like this in a courtroom.
At least not over here in Europe .
