PhotoDirector: An Inexpensive Lightroom Clone?

PhotoDirector 2011, by Cyberlink, is a professional photo workflow and management software application similar to Adobe Photoshop’s Lightroom 3.4.  I haven’t had time to exercise this product fully, but you can get a good idea of its capabilities by reading their PhotoDirector 2011 product introduction (pdf format).  Features advertised by Cyberlink are

  • Powerful image adjustment tools pros need including, White Balance, Levels, Sharpening and Noise Reduction
  • Locally apply precise brush adjustments and use Fit Edges for super accurate results
  • Nondestructive environment and adjustment history let you go back to any revision step without damaging original photos
  • Most authentic color for RAW files from Canon and Nikon cameras
  • Download unlimited adjustment presents from the DirectorZone Community
  • Efficient organizer with advanced tools for easy management and selection

At first glance, PhotoDirector 2011 appears feature-rich, and priced at only $99.95, inexpensive.  If that’s still too much for you to spend, here’s some good news from Cyberlink:

“Get your beta version* now and be the first to try PhotoDirector 2011. Let us know how you are experiencing the product before June 20th**, 2011 and we will provide you with the full version of PhotoDirector 2011 for free (US $99.95 value) after it is launched. All of the feedback collected may be used to improve future versions of PhotoDirector.”
