Zack Arias: White Seamless Tutorials

Back in 2008, Zack Arias, an Atlanta based editorial photographer, wrote a wonderful tutorial series on white seamless shots.  Zack introduced his series by saying:

If I had but one backdrop to use for portraiture I would choose a simple roll of white seamless paper. With one roll of paper you can create many options. For the rest of the week I’m going to break it down for you. We are going to look at getting it to pop to pure white, making it various shades of grey, getting it to go black, gelling it to any color in the rainbow, and doing very easy and quick changes in post production to further the visual options available to us when using such a simple background.

I doubt you’ll find a more thorough discussion of this technique on the Internet.  So, if you’re at all serious about learning how to shoot studio white backgrounds, then spend some time with these tutorials.

Shame these links bring up a malware warning, I was looking forward to reading them

Thanks for letting me know, Nathan. I've disabled links to Zack's site until this is corrected. I wrote to Zack letting him know of its presence.

[update: 4/10/11] It appears that Zack fixed the malware issue and the tutorials are ready for viewing again.
